Our first impact report

September marked Ngātahi Communications’ one year anniversary as a Certified B Corporation; a global certification that shows we meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Since certifying, we’ve been exploring how we can better measure our impact in order to identify how we can make a bigger difference through our mahi. We’re excited to share our very first impact report with you, which highlights our purpose, vision, mission, values and achievements over the past financial year.

The process

As part of creating this impact report, we wanted to walk the kōrero and show you that measuring and communicating your impact doesn’t have to be complicated! The process starts with knowing who you are and what you stand for, articulating the change you are working towards, and then using existing data sources to create baseline impact measurements. Even the most simple measurement process can support your organisation to understand where you are and how you can scale your impact to achieve your goals.

We opted to start with a simple impact webpage that demonstrates our focus areas as a consultancy, and how our work aligns to our target Sustainable Development Goals.

Key achievements

Our key achievements include growing our focus on marginalised and underserved community projects, donating 9% of our total client hours to pro-bono projects, building the capacity of 13 different not-for-profits and supporting 11 businesses to embed impact initiatives as part of their everyday operations.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved over the past financial year and after measuring our impact, we’re in a solid position to create more targeted and sustainable impact going forward. A huge thank you to Leigh Development and Social Currency for your tautoko and whakaaro to help us bring our impact page to life.
