Impact mahi: Cultivate Christchurch's first Impact Report

Ngātahi Communications was privileged to be approached to tell the full story of Cultivate Christchurch’s impact and transformation throughout the organisation’s first five years of operations.

Cultivate Christchurch offers youth development in a unique urban farm setting, taking rangatahi on a journey of self-development towards education, employment or training. 2020 was a milestone year of transformation for the organisation. Their team stepped up during Aotearoa’s first COVID-19 pandemic lockdown to ensure Canterbury whānau could continue to access organic produce at home, and to provide stability for youth through roles on the farm.

Following lockdown, a sharp spike in mental health and substance abuse issues for rangatahi resulted in an increase in demand for Cultivate’s youth internship programme. The team could see an important opportunity to communicate the crucial role they continue to play in supporting youth, local food resilience, the Waitaha community and the environment.

Partnering with Social Currency Investments and Kayleigh Malthouse Creative, we developed a baseline Impact Report for Cultivate. Sel from Leigh Development also supported the project with research. The report was released in early 2021 to highlight the incredible outcomes the organisation is achieving.

The Impact Report is now being used to start conversations with potential funders, partners and media, as well as to thank supporters for the impact they have contributed to creating in Ōtautahi.
