I could not be more excited to announce that Ngātahi Communications is now officially a Certified B Corporation - proof that we’re walking the kōrero by doing business that’s good for people and the planet.
This global certification shows that we meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, and use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
This makes us just the 11th business in Ōtautahi to become B Corp Certified and the 27th business in all of Aotearoa. I am extraordinarily proud to see Ngātahi alongside the likes of Ethique, Banqer, Little Yellow Bird, Sharesies, Kilmarnock Enterprises and more!
Going through B Corp certification is no easy feat, with an incredibly thorough impact assessment and verification process that has seen me dig deeper than ever before into the ‘why’ behind Ngātahi and how this translates into social, environmental and business outcomes.
Our focus on diversity, equity and inclusion projects in our community stood out during our assessment, with initiatives like our work on Christchurch Holi Festival of Colours, and kaupapa across the disability and whānau ora sectors contributing to our score. Our focus on serving local social impact organisations and those helping underserved communities also played a key role in our certification.
We wouldn’t be where we are without the support of our amazing clients who do so much for our Ōtautahi and Canterbury community by serving our youth, migrant communities, people with disabilities, Māori, the elderly, people with illnesses, and those facing mental health challenges. We’re also privileged to work alongside many other local service businesses who support social impact organisations to thrive.
A big thank you to fellow B Corp Tim Jones from Grow Good, who helped me get started on our impact assessment journey, and to Sel Leigh from Leigh Development who has spent hours diving into spreadsheets to help us verify the impact of our mahi.
Becoming a B Corp not only shows that we are doing business that’s better for the world, but it helps Ngātahi change the conversation about what a successful business looks like. Every action we take has an impact on our community and our world, and we as a business community can choose to make those actions beneficial for people, the environment and our bottom line.
Curious about becoming a B Corp? Now’s your chance to be one of New Zealand’s leaders in business for good. Visit the B Corp website here, or get in touch for a korero – I’d be more than happy to share my experience.
